Wellbeing
At Attunga Public School, student wellbeing and learning go hand in hand. We want every child to feel safe, included and ready to learn each day. Whether students need support with their mental, emotional, social or physical wellbeing, we are here to help them thrive at school and in their daily lives.
Our wellbeing approach is built on our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) values:
Be Safe, Be Respectful, Try Our Best Always.
These expectations guide our decisions, shape our culture and help every student understand what it means to be a responsible, caring member of our school community.
How we support student wellbeing
Supporting each student’s mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing is part of everyday life at Attunga Public School.
We do this through:
- Teachers who help students feel welcome, safe and included, building strong relationships in every classroom.
- Our PBL framework, which provides clear expectations, consistent routines and positive behaviour support across the whole school.
- Worry Woos emotional literacy activities, helping students recognise, name and manage feelings in a child-friendly way.
- The Zones of Regulation model, teaching students how to understand their emotions, use strategies to regulate themselves, and seek help when needed.
- Access to school counsellors, specialist staff and wellbeing support, available to assist students and families when extra guidance is needed.
- Programs that build social skills, resilience, attendance and positive behaviour, supporting students to feel confident and capable.
- Support for students who are new or transitioning between year levels, including personalised check-ins and peer-connection opportunities.
- Clear expectations for behaviour and respectful relationships, reinforced through PBL lessons, rewards and whole-school consistency.
- Staff who get to know each child and work closely with families, ensuring students feel known, valued and understood.
- Developing individual health or support plans, tailored to a student’s specific medical, learning or social-emotional needs.
- Open communication between school and home, ensuring wellbeing, progress and concerns are addressed early and compassionately.
Together, these approaches help us create a nurturing environment where students feel safe to learn, supported to grow and confident to achieve Our Best Always.
